I'm looking to help my husband find information on rocket attacks at Bien Hoa air base during 1969 and 1970. One attach he said hit the mess hall he ate at. He was not in the mess hall but was close enough that the concussion picked him up and through him to the ground. He also states that he lived in tent city the first tent at the intersection close to the club where he use to drink with friends he met there. He also states a rocket hit just approximately 35 paces from his tent in an open field. I'm trying to file a claim for him can anyone help me? Thanks Connie

As listed below, my dad was the Aircraft Commander on the last C-141 out of Bien Hoa. He said they were under mortar or rocket fire at the time his airplane loaded up the Marine Perimeter Guard and departed. Mr. Smith...I was attached to the 165th Transportation Co.(ADS)520th Trans.Bn.(ARMY)at Bien Hoa Airbase from Jan.1970 to about Oct.1970. I was living in the tent city just west of the Shane Memorial mess hall and north of the E.M.club. I recall a couple of attacks that stand out for me vividly because only a few seconds and few feet separated me from being here to write this note. Both of these attacks as best my memory serves were in the April-May timeframe of 1970. One attack occured about 7am and the other on a different day was in the later part of the day striking our mess hall just before the evening meal. I was with 7th of 8th Artilley 54th Group Second Field Force 6/19/69-6/18/70.

i need some info on dates of attacks Rocket esspecially. there is one that sticks in my mind they hit the bomb dump and destroyed lots of helecopters also hit the napam storage area which burned for a few days after but what caused most dammage was the bomb dump had a direct hit in the cuncussion bomb storage area 500lbs each. i was knocked hard that day please let me know the dates if you can i think it was sept or november 72 i was in the transportation squadron shop.

Also documentation on killing three VC who were trying to booby trap a helicopter pad while I was on night guard duty in a remote area between Bien Hoa & Saigon during same period. Any information with dates for rocket and motor attacks during the Jul - Dec 1971 period on Bien Hoa AB will help my claim with the VA. I remember the Thanks Giving Morning attack but not much else.

I was with Security Forces at Bien Hoa 65/66..at a date I do not recall, but sometime in late 65 at about 0500 hrs. I came across a Sapper while I was on patrol and alerted Radio control. I chased this VC on foot as backup was enroute..I chased him and he ducked into the ARVN/VNAF NCO club near the main gate. I went in after him and put two slugs from my sidearm into his neck and Bye Bye Charlie. The sachel charge did NOT go off. Do you have any info ref this event ? Hi, I was there from Jun 67 to Jun 68 and would like to know all the strikes we had, I know more than one. I was in the 19th TASS and we lost our Clerk in a Bunker Strike the next Bunker over from ours. One Strike landed near as we were hitting the bunker and I picked up some skin burns from Flying Debrea, Scared my pants off. Anything you can give me on these please email me at curtise@wfeca.net. Hi Trying to validate a crash I was in at a pad in the Bien Hoa area..It was after 2400 hrs and before 0200 hrs. I was the crew chief on the chopper of tail # 098 and was there to pick up 50 cal barrels for a quad under a ground attack in the bush. Had barrels on board when another chopper crashed into us on the pad at full rotor rpm's. Need help / or directions on how to locate those reports. We sacked in a ops building till dawn and a investigation was completed.My unit was E batry 1 st air cav, call sign "woodpecker 098" best to my recall. Thanks LiL John

I was stationed with the 604th Special Ops Squadron Vietnam from 1968 to 1970 where we underwent countless attacks, ie. The New Air Terminal, 604 SOS Operations Bld., Baracks, and One A-37 that was destroyed just monents after we finished loading it on the ramp by the VNAF F-5's, Just to name a few. In 69, I was transfered to the 303rd MMS where I endured TET, our base was over ran by hundreds of NVA. I remember the incident, but not the date. I was loading A-37's on the Alert pad while taking fire and mortars when the incident occured. The planes took off and barely had time to lift of when they dropped the BLU's on the on the charging NVA. I would appreciate any information on all of the dates and attacks you can provide, Thank You. Thump.

I was in the Air Force and stationed in Bien How in 1972 with the 377th Air Wing. I was a weapons mechanic and we loaded bombs on F4 fighters, quick turn arounds. We were sent there for the expected spring Tet offensive. I need info to process my claim with the VA. They are being very difficult. I was there when the NVN hit the base munitions holding area. A sapper exploded a satchel charge in our base munitions holding area. There was damage to everything around the holding area. I was there for numerous rocket/mortar attacks. We got hit on a regular basis, 3-5 times a week. I was also there when a Marine was on his way to meet the payroll flight and was hit by an incoming rocket. I was with the 117th security forces in the summer we were attacked with mortars, do yoy have any details?
